In Acer Travelmate 2312LM we've found Celeron M360 1.4GHz cpu and in Panasonic Toughbook CG-18 we have a pleasure to find Centrino 753 Ultra Low Voltage 1.2GHz processor.
Screen size at Acer Travelmate 2312LM is quite larger with its 15" than Panasonic Toughbook CG-18 with its 10.3".
Both notebooks have maximum declared screen resolution 1024x768.
More RAM means less swapping when you run many programs at once and therefore Panasonic Toughbook CG-18 with 0.5GB RAM is better choise than Acer Travelmate 2312LM with 0.25GB.
The RAM memory in use on both laptops is DDR2.
Graphic is built around i852GM DVMT on Travelmate 2312LM, but graphic on other is built using Intel 915GMS.
Video cards uses memory from mainboard, up to 64MB.
Panasonic Toughbook CG-18 had more storage for files on hard disk.
Bluetooth isn't available on both laptop models and therefore they cannot communicate with some small devices.
We dislike the fact that infrared isn't available on these laptops.
Buying any lack of firewire (IEEE 1394)
Only Acer Travelmate 2312LM has PCMCIA.
Both laptops have built-in modem which you need somewhere where broadband internet isn't available.
Floppy drive is embedded in Panasonic Toughbook CG-18, but we see this as disadvantage since floppy disks are unreliable and obsolete.
These laptops don't have DVI output to allow you to see screen on bigger modern TFT monitors.
There are no internal wireless adapter in Acer Travelmate 2312LM and therefore you cannot use wireless with it at many places like some hotels, cafes, etc.
These notebooks aren't really suitable for video conferencing because they haven't web camera embedded.
Operating system on Travelmate 2312LM is none and on Toughbook CG-18 is XP Pro.
Notable advantages of these notebooks are : touch pad and touch screen for Panasonic Toughbook CG-18 and for Acer Travelmate 2312LM.
