Both of compared notebooks : Acer Travelmate 2312LM and Toshiba Satellite L100-1200 have the same maximum screen resolution (1024x768).
More RAM on Toshiba Satellite L100-1200 means less swapping on hard drive. Satellite L100-1200 had 0.5GB. Acer Travelmate 2312LM had only 0.25GB of RAM which might not suit users who wants to run many programs at once.
2GB is maximum supportable RAM memory on both notebooks
Graphic is built around i852GM DVMT on Travelmate 2312LM, but graphic on other is built using Intel 945GM.
These notebooks don't contain dedicated RAM for graphic cards, they use part of main memory for their graphic cards.
More hard drive space were at Toshiba Satellite L100-1200 (60GB is contast to 40GB).
Bluetooth isn't available on both models and therefore they cannot communicate with some small devices.
Infrared, which isn't available on both of these models, unable these laptops to communicate with some devices .
Buying any lack of firewire (IEEE 1394)
PCMCIA is available only on Acer Travelmate 2312LM and it is needed by some TV cards, external hard drives and external modems.
None has DVI output so you cannot connect them to some new monitors.
Toshiba Satellite L100-1200 only has TV output.
Lack of embedded wireless for Acer Travelmate 2312LM is big disadvantage.
These notebooks aren't very suitable for video conferencing since they haven't web camera built-in.
Operating system on Acer Travelmate 2312LM is none and on Toshiba Satellite L100-1200 is XP Home.
There are additional software only on Toshiba Satellite L100-1200 and it is Microsoft Office OneNote 2003.
