BenQ R55.G24 went with Core Duo T2300 1.6GHz CPU built in, and Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 with Pentium M778 Ultra Low Voltage.
We like more BenQ R55.G24 15.4" inch screen than Panasonic Toughbook CF-29's 13.3" size.
Graphic professionals might find BenQ R55.G24 model with its 1280x800 maximum screen resulution more preferable.
More RAM on BenQ R55.G24 means less swapping on hard drive. R55.G24 had 1GB. Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 had only 0.5GB of RAM which might not suit users who wants to run many programs at once.
Toughbook CF-29 allows maximum 2GB RAM - higher than R55.G24 (-1GB RAM).
Graphic card in use in BenQ R55.G24 is Nvidia Go 7400 and in laptop Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 is Intel 915GMS.
Graphic card is better on BenQ R55.G24 with embedded 128MB of memory.
Capacity on hard drives were 80GB.
We regret the lack of blutooth on these laptops.
Keep in mind that these models don't have infrared device built-in.
Firewire is available only on BenQ R55.G24.
There are no PCMCIA on Panasonic Toughbook CF-29.
Modem is built in both laptops.
Only model R55.G24 have cardreader inside.
If someone still uses old floppy disks (which we don't recommend since they are quite obsolete), Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 has floppy drive.
None has DVI output so you cannot connect them to some new LCD monitors.
The lack of webcamera in both models makes them bad in video conferencing.
R55.G24 drives XP Home and Toughbook CF-29 drives XP Pro operating system.
Special adventages of these notebooks are : protection on vibrATIon, water, high temperatures and dust, touchpad and touchscreen for Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 and for BenQ R55.G24.
