We like more BenQ R55.G24 15.4" inch screen than Panasonic Toughbook CF-74's 13.3" size.
If you like higher screen resolutions than you might decide that BenQ R55.G24 is better with its 1280x800 than Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 with 1024x768.
More RAM on BenQ R55.G24 means less swapping on hard drive. R55.G24 had 1GB. Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 had only 0.5GB of RAM which might not suit users who wants to run many programs at once.
Toughbook CF-74 allows maximum 2GB RAM - higher than R55.G24 (-1GB RAM).
On both laptops in use is DDR2 memory.
Graphic is built around Nvidia Go 7400 on R55.G24, but graphic on other is built using Intel 915GM.
Graphic card is better on BenQ R55.G24 with embedded 128MB of memory.
Hard disk on had 80GB of maximum capacity.
These laptops have disadvantage in lack of built-in bluetooth device which is quite useful for communication with digital cameras, mobile phones and some other devices.
We dislike the fact that infrared isn't available on these laptops.
Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 doesn't support firewire connections.
Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 doesn't have PCMCIA.
Only model R55.G24 have cardreader inside.
Although if you still have floppy disks you should definetly move them to new technologies, Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 has floppy drive inside.
None has DVI output so you cannot connect them to some new TFT monitors.
These laptops aren't very good for Internet telephony because they haven't web camera.
Operating system on R55.G24 is XP Home and on Toughbook CF-74 is XP Pro.
