BenQ S53W.G01 laptop have finer maximum screen resolution(1280x768) than other laptop(1024x768).
Inside both notebooks were 0.5GB of memory.
Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 supports more maximum amount of RAM (2) than BenQ S53W.G01 (-1GB).
Both BenQ S53W.G01 and Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 on our test use same type of RAM memory - DDR2.

We dislike the fact that bluetooth isn't available on these notebook models.
Infrared is missing on Panasonic Toughbook CF-74.
There are no firewire built-in on Panasonic Toughbook CF-74.
Only Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 has PCMCIA.

Small advantage of BenQ S53W.G01 is built-in cardreader which reads 4 card types.
Floppy drive is embedded in Panasonic Toughbook CF-74, but we see this as disadvantage since floppy disks are unreliable and obsolete.
It is bad that these notebooks cannot be connected to some new LCD monitors since they don't have DVI.
There are no web camera in both laptops which makes them bad for video conferencing and Internet telephony.
Operating system on BenQ S53W.G01 is XP Home and on Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 is XP Pro.
