Central processor unit on our Gateway MX6448 we've tested was Turion X2 Dual 1.6GHz, and on HP Compaq nx8220 was Pentium M740 1.73GHz.
Both models have the same 15.4" screen size.
We got more memory (1GB) in Gateway MX6448 than in HP Compaq nx8220 (0.5GB).
Graphic card inside MX6448 is ATI XPRESS 1150 and other laptop uses ATI X600.
Graphic cards on HP Compaq nx8220 have its own memory (64MB) and therefore mainboard's controller works faster.
Gateway MX6448 had more storage for files (like mp3, avi) on its hard disk.
There are no bluetooth on Gateway MX6448 and that might be disadvantage.
Infrared is built-in only in HP Compaq nx8220.
There are firewire built-in only on Gateway MX6448.
PCMCIA isn't built in HP Compaq nx8220.
These laptops have cardreaders inside them.
Disadvantage of both is lack of DVI output for connection to some modern monitors.
Each laptop has 54Mbit/s wireless
Internet telephony is better with web camera but any of these notebooks hasn't one .
MX6448 drives XP Media Center and nx8220 drives XP Pro operating system.
Only Gateway MX6448 has special software pack : Works 8.5, Money 2006.
