Central processor unit on our Gateway MX6912 we've tested was Core Duo T2300E 1.66GHz, and on HP Compaq nx8220 was Pentium M740 1.73GHz.
On both models screen size is 15.4".
Gateway MX6912 model we've tested had more RAM (1GB) than HP Compaq nx8220 (0.5GB).
Both Gateway MX6912 and HP Compaq nx8220 on our test had same amount of maximum RAM memory they can support - 2GB.
Graphic card in Gateway MX6912 is Intel 950 and in notebook HP Compaq nx8220 is ATI X600.
We like that graphic card on HP Compaq nx8220 have its own video memory (64MB) and therefore its faster since it doesn't use main memory and mainboard controller is less loaded.
More hard disk space were at Gateway MX6912 (100GB is contast to 60GB).
There are no bluetooth devices on Gateway MX6912 and that might be disadvantage.
Infrared, which is useful for communication with some mobile phones is available only on HP Compaq nx8220.
Firewire is available only on Gateway MX6912.
There are no PCMCIA on HP Compaq nx8220.
Cardreaders are available in both laptops.
It is bad that these notebooks cannot be connected to some new monitors since they don't have DVI.
Both laptops are equipped with 54Mbit/s internal wireless.
The lack of webcamera in both models makes them bad in video conferencing.
Operating system on MX6912 is XP Home and on nx8220 is XP Pro.
Only Gateway MX6912 has special software pack : Works 8.5, Money 2006.
