In Gateway MX6931 we've found Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66Ghz cpu and in HP Pavilion dv9056ea we have a pleasure to find Turion X2 Dual 1.6GHz CPU.
Screen size at HP Pavilion dv9056ea is quite larger with its 17" than Gateway MX6931 with its 15.4".
The amount of RAM memory was 2GB on both notebooks.
Graphic card in use in Gateway MX6931 is Intel 950 and in HP Pavilion dv9056ea is Nvidia Go 7600.
More hard drive space were available at Gateway MX6931 (160GB is contast to 120GB).
If you have bluetooth devices if you buy Gateway MX6931 you will need external bluetooth dongle which is not excellent idea.
Infrared, which is useful for communication with some mobile phones is available only on HP Pavilion dv9056ea.
Firewire is embedded in both allows them to communicate with IEEE 1394 devices like some camcorders.
PCMCIA is available only on Gateway MX6931 and it is needed by some TV cards, external hard drives and external modems.
If you sometimes travel to destination without broadband connection, you don't have to worry since both laptops have internal modems.
Both notebooks have cardreaders.
They don't have DVI for new LCD monitors.
HP Pavilion dv9056ea only has TV output.
Gateway MX6931 only has TV input.
These notebooks aren't really suitable for video conferencing because they haven't web camera inside.
Operating system on MX6931 is XP Media Center and on Pavilion dv9056ea is XP Home.
Only Gateway MX6931 has some additional software : Works 8.5, Money 2006.
