CPU in Gateway MP8708 is Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0GHz and in Samsung M700-1860 is Pentium M750 1.86GHz.
We think that M700-1860 has better screen with its 19" inch size than MP8708 with its 17" large screen.
More RAM memory we've got in Gateway MP8708 - 2GB. Samsung M700-1860 came with 1GB.
Both Gateway MP8708 and Samsung M700-1860 on our test had same amount of maximum RAM memory they can support - 2GB.
No free RAM slots on both notebook models.
Graphic card in Gateway MP8708 is Intel 950 and in laptop Samsung M700-1860 is Nvidia Go 6600.
We like that graphic card on Samsung M700-1860 have its own video memory (128MB) and therefore its faster since it doesn't use main memory and mainboard controller is less loaded.
More hard drive space were available at Gateway MP8708 (160GB is contast to 80GB).
Disadvantage of Gateway MP8708 is lack of bluetooth device which you need for some mobile phones and cameras.
Gateway MP8708 doesn't have infrared device.
Both laptops have PCMCIA which allows to connect some TV cards .
