Gateway MX6931 went with Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66Ghz central processor unit built in, and Gateway MX3414 with Turion X2 Dual 1.6GHz.
We like more Gateway MX6931 15.4" inch screen than Gateway MX3414's 14.1" size.
More RAM on Gateway MX6931 means less swapping on hard drive. MX6931 had 2GB. Gateway MX3414 had only 1GB of RAM which might not suit users who wants to run many programs at once.
2GB is maximum supportable RAM memory on both laptops
The RAM memory in use on both laptops is DDR2.
Gateway MX3414 could be described as a bit less heavier with 2.4kg, comparing to 2.86kg .
Graphic is built around Intel 950 on MX6931, but graphic on other laptop is Nvidia Go 6100.
Video cards on both laptops uses 128MB of shared RAM from mainboard.
Gateway MX6931 had more capacity of hard drive (160GB, comparing to 100GB).
Gateway MX6931 laptop have faster hard disk rotating on 5400rpm.
Only Gateway MX6931 have firewire.
Modem is built in both laptops.
Unfortunatly, notebooks don't support fast network connections of 1Gbit/s.
Cardreader in both notebooks can read 4 different card types.
These notebooks don't have DVI output to allow you to see its screen on bigger modern TFT monitors.
Only MX6931 has TV input.
Quite disadvantage of both models is lack of web camera which is needed for Internet telephony.
Operating system is XP Media Center.
