We've found 17" monitor size on dv9008nr quite better than 15.4" at MX6446.
The amount of RAM memory was 1GB on both notebooks.
Both HP dv9008nr and Gateway MX6446 on our test use same type of RAM memory - DDR2.
Travellers might find Gateway MX6446 more suitable with its weight of 2.86kg comparing to HP dv9008nr with its 3.54kg.
Graphic card inside dv9008nr is Nvidia Go 6150 and other laptop uses ATI XPRESS 1150.
Video cards on both notebooks uses 128MB of shared RAM from mainboard.
Hard disk on both had 100GB of maximum capacity.
HP dv9008nr laptop have faster hard disk rotating on 5400rpm.
Firewire useful for some video equipment communication is built-in both laptops.

It is bad that these notebooks cannot be connected to some new monitors since they don't have DVI.
