In Sony Vaio VGN-FS980 we've found Pentium M740 1.73GHz cpu and in Gateway MX6453 we have a pleasure to find Turion X2 Dual 1.6GHz CPU.
On both models screen size is 15.4".
For users who likes more memory Gateway MX6453 with 2GB is better than Sony Vaio VGN-FS980 with 1GB of memory.
Both Sony Vaio VGN-FS980 and Gateway MX6453 on our test use same type of RAM memory - DDR2.
We need to say that Sony Vaio VGN-FS980 is less in weight with 2.72kg, comparing to 2.86kg which other laptop has.
Graphic is built around Intel GMA900 on Vaio VGN-FS980, but graphic on other laptop is ATI XPRESS 1150.
Video cards on both laptops uses 128MB of shared RAM from mainboard.
More storage for multimedia (mpeg, avi) were available at Gateway MX6453 (greater space on hard disk).
These laptops have firewire.
Both laptops have built-in modem which you need somewhere where broadband internet isn't available.
Note that only Sony Vaio VGN-FS980 is able to take advantage of fast internet (1Gbit/s).
These notebooks have cardreader inside (4 different card types can read).
These laptops don't have DVI output to allow you to see screen on bigger modern TFT monitors.
